Pair of stamped round mugs with hand-carved stamp design. One of these guys got a lot more toasting than the other so grab them together for a bit of a deal price! This listing is for two mugs. Clay body is Svend Bayer. The interior is glazed with a simple ash green made of neighbourhood-sourced woodburner ash, and the exterior is fully unglazed.
Each mug holds approx. 350ml and stands approx. 9 cm tall and 9 cm wide.
Fired for 62 hours in the large anagama at Oxford Kilns.
Each pot experiences the anagama differently. Some areas get more ash, some get heavier reduction, and some have more shadows from their neighbouring pots. Shells, silica-rich grasses like mare’s tail, and nearby glazes have all left their marks on these pieces. As such, there is more variation in their texture and colour than you’d get in a standard gas or electric kiln.
I recommend handwashing woodfired work just for longevity’s sake. These pieces are fully vitrified (watertight) as they’ve been fired to cone 11/12. I’ve carefully washed and sanded each piece. Please check the item dimensions and capacity.
