Pair of shino-glazed whiskey (or whatever your beverage of choice may be) tumblers, slightly different sizes, some lovely ash flecking present on the interior.
Each tumbler holds approx. 100ml. They stand approx. 6 cm and 7 cm tall, and are 6 cm wide.
Fired for 62 hours in the large anagama at Oxford Kilns.
Each pot experiences the anagama differently. Some areas get more ash, some get heavier reduction, and some have more shadows from their neighbouring pots. Shells, silica-rich grasses like mare’s tail, and nearby glazes have all left their marks on these pieces. As such, there is more variation in their texture and colour than you’d get in a standard gas or electric kiln.
I recommend handwashing woodfired work just for longevity’s sake. These pieces are fully vitrified (watertight) as they’ve been fired to cone 11/12. I’ve carefully washed and sanded each piece.
