A lovely and round storage jar, entirely unglazed on the exterior and shino glazed on the interior, with all the colour and gloss coming from the atmosphere in the anagama, ash from the firing, and wadding marks that kept the lid and body from fusing together. Perfect for storing tea bags, sweets, rocks from the beach, or anything else that needs a more interesting home.
Stands approx. 13 cm tall and 10 cm wide.

Each pot experiences the anagama differently. Some areas get more ash, some get heavier reduction, and some have more shadows from their neighbouring pots. Shells, silica-rich grasses like mare’s tail, and nearby glazes have all left their marks on these pieces. As such, there is more variation in their texture and colour than you’d get in a standard gas or electric kiln.
I recommend handwashing woodfired work just for longevity’s sake. These pieces are fully vitrified (watertight) as they’ve been fired to cone 11/12. I’ve carefully washed and sanded each piece.
